i didn't say goodbye

it wasn't so hard to cross the street after all. it all depends on who's waiting for you on the other side.

my blueberry nights - it wasn't as trashy as some people said it would be. wong kar wai's usual suspects were there - the spaghetti western whip, the cafe with a story to tell, the story-hopping, and of course, the wonderful coloring work. all of those elements remind me of chungking express, which was topnotch. the script was also appropriate. norah jones wasn't exceptional though. i mean she can act, but it wasn't anything special. at first i thought natalie portman didn't fit her part but i guess i can blame my pre-conceived notions due to her other films for that. i really liked this movie. maybe i liked it a lot because of the story's relevance.

rock on, grandma. rock on.

i watched the lit major seniors' thesis defense today and i loved this one that my friend rainey reported on - about how secondary schools should pursue the teaching of catcher in the rye. +1 for you, rainey. you're no phony.
